I started with the word “slow” to remind me to not rush my thinking, and it actually worked. SO.I got the idea to write a focusing word on my thumb-the only place I can’t avoid looking at. Trying to control ADHD with a to-do list is like trying to stop a freight train with a thumbtack. I’ve tried long, detailed lists, I’ve tried short lists, I’ve tried putting sticky notes on my computer, hanging pieces of paper from my ceiling, and even writing checklists on my forearm.īut none of it works consistently, and I’ve been getting frustrated-because let’s be honest. No matter how many to-do lists, notifications, and alarms I throw in my path, my creative brain just ignores them. Sometimes, I feel like I’m living in ADHD Ground Hog Day.
